Hodge Hill Sports and Enterprise College

The Architects Practice has developed a masterplan for the former Hodge Hill School site reconfiguring the accommodation in the existing buildings and the adjacent Braidwood School for the Deaf to consolidate faculties and departments together. The plan reworks the landscape around the school to provide a new sports hall, 3G pitch and improved access arrangements.

The plan included a full curriculum analysis and a transition plan for the phased departmental relocation.

The glazing system on the school's west block have been redesigned to replace the existing failing single glazed system. A new high performance facade with external shading and incorporating the school colours has been installed on the building.

The sports hall is a customised version of the Sport England's Affordable Sports Hall model with a timber facade incorporating vertical colour flashes and large scale scorched logo figures.

The revised site plan, sports hall and new school elevations received planning permission from Birmingham City Council on the 31st October 2013.
