Birmingham Building Schools for the Future Stockland Green
Simon Foxell of The Architects Practice was appointed Client Design Advisor to Birmingham City Council together with Matthew Springett in 2007. They guided the design process through the competitive dialogue selection process to the selection of Catalyst Lend Lease as preferred bidder and to Financial Close in August 2009. They continued guiding subsequent phases of the programme and the design of BSF, Academy and Primary schools for Birmingham Council until the 2010 spending review brought BSF to an end.
In Autumn 2010 three BSF projects (including a tripartite co-located school) and one Academy are under construction. A further seven BSF, six Academies and five primary projects are funded and underway.
Stockland Green Technology College is in the Erdington area of Birmingham and is a new build PFI scheme school design by Associated Architects in Birmingham to replace the existing school. The school is due to open in January 2011.
